The logical sequence of concepts generally unfolds in the following order as we reciew Spanish 1 materials:

1. Basics and Vocabulary

• Alphabet and Pronunciation: Learning how the vowels and specific letters (like ñ and rr) sound.

• Greetings and Introductions: Essential phrases for saying hello, goodbye, and asking how someone is doing.

• Numbers, Dates, and Time: Counting, saying the days of the week, and telling time.

2. Nouns and Basic Modifiers

• Gender and Nouns: Understanding that nouns are either masculine or feminine (e.g., el libro, la mesa).

• Articles: Definite (el, la, los, las) and indefinite (un, una, unos, unas) articles.

• Adjective Agreement: Matching adjectives to nouns in both gender and number (e.g., las chicas altas).

3. Basic Verbs and Conjugations

• Subject Pronouns: Words like yo (I), tú (you), él (he), nosotros (we).

• Present Tense Regular Verbs: Conjugating verbs ending in -ar, -er, and -ir.

• Common Irregular Verbs: Learning essential verbs that do not follow standard conjugation rules (e.g., ir - to go, tener - to have).

4. Sentence Structures and Descriptive Grammar

• Ser vs. Estar: Knowing when to use the two "to be" verbs (used for permanent traits vs. temporary states or locations).

• The Verb Gustar: How to express "I like" (me gusta) and other indirect object constructions.

• Reflexive Verbs: Using verbs to talk about daily routines and personal care (e.g., lavarse - to wash oneself).

• Question Words: Learning words like quién (who), qué (what), and dónde (where) to form questions

SPANISH 2 MATERIALS

Day #1 is a brief over view and welcome to our class, expectations and getting to know each other. BINGO LINK

Day #3: Students are (hopefully) getting more comfortable with each other.  Schedule changes are still happening too. 

• Students will be given the opportunity to choose their seat now that they have made a few friends.

• Participation and its importance to learning Spanish will be addressed.  Our participation board will be introduced.

• My (this) website will be shared.  My office hours/availability to help and classroom management expectations will be shared.

• EXIT TICKET: Students will fill out a STUDENT INPUT form so I can get to now them too!

Day #4: Today we will review grammar concepts and some vocabulary from Spanish 1.  This will give me an idea as to what Spanish level my students are to help me understand the amount of review of the Spanish 1 material will be needed. Building  the Spanish 2 curriculum requires a solid foundation and understanding of the fundamentals from Spanish 1. Day #6:  (Monday) More Spanish 1 review including Possessive Adjectives LINK to presentation. Putting the concepts we reviewed last week into application: The verb SER, TENER, Nouns, Articles and Adjectives.  Talking about vocabulary associated with friends, family and home.

Day #7:  (Tuesday/Wednesday)  In-class practice of the review concepts.  Repaso-A Practice Packet LINK You will have the entire class period to complete this assignment.  It is due into the drawer by the end of the class period.

Day #8:  (Thursday/Friday). We will be correcting the practice work together in class.  It is in your best interest to make the necessary corrections to your work because this is your study guide for an upcoming test on the review materials. We will review the Prsent tense, irregular verbs ser, estar, tener and dar.  We will review contractions.  This review will prepawre you for the practice materials on Monday.

Day #9: (Monday) I will be out today.  This is a shorter class period and you will be given the Repaso-B packet.  This contains the materials we reviewed together in class on Friday.  It is due into the drawer by the end of class today.  LINK to the review packet.

Day #10: (Tuesday/Wednesday) We will be correcting our review (Repaso-B) from the previous class. We will review IOPs (Indirect Object Pronouns) and review when to use the verbs Ser and Estar in preparation for Repaso-C next class.

Day #11: (Thursday/Friday) Today you will have the class to put into practice the review material from your previous class, Repaso-C.  The packet will be due by the end of class today.  LINK to the packet. 

Next year note for Ms. Clyne: Give, Collect, and correct Repaso-C  on the same day...it is a shorter review.  Also, add more IOP material to the practice.  If time, start Repaso-D materials on the same day

Monday was Labor day and we didn't have school

Day #12: (Tuesday) Correcting Repaso-C today in class then taking a pause on my Repaso Packets due to the number of students requesting to work more with IOPs in the wellness check assignment.   Since I like working with both IOPs and DOPs together, we will take this week to break down the materials independently.

Day#13:  (Thursday) Shorter class period today due to minimum day schedue for the College fair tonight. Putting our knowledge into practice. DOPs assignment LINK here but please open in google classroom for credit.  In-class practice sheet LINK    Looking ahead, We will be discussing DOUBLE OBJECT PRONOUNS on Monday (That just means the DOP and IOP are in the same sentence). I'm looking to practice and take a TEST just on DOPs and IOPs, IF we are ready at the end of next week.

Day #15: (Tuesday).   Computer On-line Practice LINKS (for home)    In class Practice together LINK    We will correct it together on Thursday.  

Day #16 (Thursday): We will correct the practice work today.  If you feel ready we can do the Quiz at the end of class today otherwise we will do it on Tuesday when we return from the three-day weekend.
